It was a miserable night for NW London as they suffered a heavy defeat in Aveley, away to Cannons Wood.
There was plenty of optimism heading into the fixture for the Gorillas, and in the opening 15 minutes, they looked threatening, making a promising start.

However, a hanging cross from the left allowed Emmanuel Shoderu to tap in with ease, exposing a static defensive setup.

This goal seemed to trigger a defensive collapse. Despite maintaining a lot of possession and coming close to scoring, NW London appeared vulnerable whenever Cannons Wood countered with pace. Two defensive errors allowed Wood to extend their lead by halftime.

The second half saw NW London once again start brightly, creating problems for the opposition. But after Tryczynski fired wide from a cross, Cannons Wood immediately responded with another goal to make it 4-1. Once again, the defending left much to be desired.

NWL's resolve didn't waver. They continued to create chances, and when Tryczynski headed home from a Burcea corner, there appeared to be a glimmer of hope.

Krasniqi fired over from a long throw, and as NW London pushed forward, removing a defender in search of more goals, Cannons Wood ruthlessly exploited the extra space. Michael Paton capitalized, scoring three more goals to seal the rout.

In the final minutes, Melgaco won and converted a penalty to add a consolation to the scoreline.

This defeat leaves NW London in limbo, dropping to 12th place in the table. Questions will once again be raised about the defensive frailties that have plagued their season.
