NWL secured a valuable 3 points against league newcomers FC Baresi at Wodson Park.
The Gorillas fielded a more familiar and experienced lineup, with striker Damian Tryczynski returning to action and new signing Felipe Melgaco, a dynamic midfielder acquired last week, making his debut.
NWL started confidently, quickly establishing their free-flowing passing game. A long ball over the top from Burcea set Krasniqi through, who delightfully lobbed the oncoming Baresi goalkeeper to open the scoring.
The second goal soon followed, with Burcea claiming another assist by crossing for Gonzalez, who kneed the ball home from close range following a corner.
Baresi began to find their rhythm, and NWL's debutant goalkeeper Samuel Nwakubo impressed with several saves before eventually conceding to Teyon Weston after a low cross towards the end of the first half.
The Gorillas started the second half as they had the first, and it paid off when youngster De Quadros was fouled just inside the box, allowing Tryczynski to convert from the penalty spot.
Despite Baresi's efforts to mount a comeback, NWL's defence, including another debutant Lamine Gomes at right-back, held firm.
With key players returning and new arrivals settling in, manager Khan will be pleased with the result. The Gorillas can take positives from a strong display away against an experienced Baresi side.
