Match Report
Thurlow Nunn Division 1 South
NW London 0-2 Burnham Ramblers
Immanuel Soetan 18' (Burnham Ramblers)
Aiden Brown 80' (Burnham Ramblers)
An error-filled and nervy performance from NW London saw a fired-up Burnham Ramblers take all three points at Coles Park on Saturday.
Despite an excellent performance the previous week, NW London looked lackluster and devoid of any flow. Burnham capitalized on this disjointed display, creating opportunities from the outset.
After several promising chances from Burnham, who pressed high to win the ball, the pressure eventually told as Immanuel Soetan slid the ball home to give the away side the lead.
NW London did mount a response, but Burnham's defence remained resolute, blocking every effort that NW managed when they reached the area. The first half ended without NW London registering a single shot on target.
The second half was more characteristic of NW London, as they increased the tempo and put Burnham under pressure. However, Burnham opted to sit back and defend their advantage, holding firm in their quest for victory.
NW London came close on a few occasions: Lamine Gomes cut inside a defender but fired straight at the goalkeeper's legs, and moments later, Melgaco curled an effort onto the crossbar. It just didn't seem like NW London's day.
In the final 15 minutes, Burnham broke down the left and delivered a ball across the box, which Aidan Jones hammered home with power, sparking jubilant celebrations from the Burnham squad.
A match full of yellow cards saw tempers flare late on, with Burcea sent off for a second yellow and Melgaco sin-binned for dissent after protesting the decision.
The game ended in farcical circumstances for NW London, who, reduced to nine men, struggled to mount any meaningful comeback. Burnham comfortably saw out the match, showcasing a disciplined and hard-fought performance.
It's back to the drawing board for the Gorillas as they prepare to return to action on Friday night at home against St. Margaretsbury.
