NW London 0-3 Basildon Town

Jahvid Irish 10' (Basildon Town)
Jahvid Irish 33' (Basildon Town)
Charlie Jarvis 45' (Basildon Town)

Saturday's league fixture against Basildon Town at home, resulted in a fourth consecutive loss and a third without scoring.

The growing injury crisis has hit NW London hard recently & with a couple of departures of would be starters, it was another very youthful line up against Basildon Town.

The squad included 6 teenagers and with an average of 20, it set another record for the youngest squad announced by NWL in their history, with only 2 players above the age of 23.

The action was very much a NWL home fixture as per usual, with the Gorillas taking full control of possession, however, they failed to really threaten the Basildon goal bar a few occasions.

Basildon stuck to their game plan and were rewarded in the 19th minute when Jahvid Irish got on the end of a long through pass to beat Levchuk who rushed out to no avail.

Irish scored a similar second in the 37th minute, this time lobbing the oncoming Levchuk and when Charlie Jarvis added a third on the stroke of half time, after a scramble in the box, Basildon had taken every opportunity presented without being seriously troubled.

The 2nd half, saw an increase in tempo by NWL and for the first 25 minutes, the Gorillas forced the Basildon goalkeeper into action before missing a glorious opportunity through Ukranian debutant Fostyk from a free-kick.

Baildon defended resolutely and had a few big chances on the counter which were squandered.

In the end, NWL could not break down a well marshalled Basildon defence which looked more confident as the game drew to a close, to see out a 3-0 away victory in Wood Green.
